Why This Manifesto

At Explorai, we develop artificial intelligence solutions to bring about positive change in critical sectors of our society. But we do so with a sense of responsibility: while AI holds immense promise, it also entails tangible environmental costs. This manifesto clarifies our position, our practices , and our commitment to minimizing our footprint and positively influencing our ecosystem—both economic and environmental.

1. Our internal use is measured and intentional

Although our energy impact is negligible on a global scale, we recognize it. We believe that the impetus for change begins with us:

• When results are comparable, we prefer the solution that uses less energy.

• The right tool for the right job.

• Raising our team's awareness of the energy impact of their AI queries.

• Even though we don't control where our requests are executed (or the energy source used by data centers), we can take action on the things we do control.

• We help our clients adopt AI that is useful, targeted, and optimized.

2. We put our overall impact into perspective

We are committed to transparency regarding our digital and energy consumption, and we help put these figures into perspective:

• Through our monitoring efforts, we identify, quantify, and share data on our carbon footprint internally.

• We recognize the Jevons paradox: the more efficient AI becomes, the more it is used; therefore, we remain vigilant about rebound effects.

3. The environmental impact is also reflected in the indirect benefits of AI

Our solutions are designed to optimize real-world operations, which often leads to reductions in emissions:

• Fewer people on the move, less waste, fewer costly human errors.

• Even if we can't quantify them precisely, these benefits are real and must be factored into the equation.
